This beautiful beaded brain tanned buckskin sheath was made by Jack Oar with Tom Oar’s smoked, brain tanned buckskin. The sheath has a leather liner and a belt loop on the back, and is signed on the back by Jack and Tom Oar. The number 8 pony beads were so called by the Native people because the traders brought them in on pack horses. The knife is a Russell Green River Works knife, which are made from hard steel that holds a sharp edge. These knives, still in production, were very popular during the pre-1840’s American Fur Trade Era, when they were traded to the tribes, mountain men, fur trappers and early settlers. The mountain men used to say, if they wanted to tell you to do it right or to do something well, “Do it up to the Green River.” Price on these includes shipping in the U.S. Please double click on full length photos!
